Add the ability to remove words added to the dictionary
I just downloaded this yesterday, and I already have 'walkwd' as a permanent word in my dictionary. It would be great to be able to remove that word instead of having it show up each time I need to walk somewhere. Please add the ability to remove words from the autocorrect dictionary.
2 votesPadKeys learns words when they occur inside sentences (so it knows if it should be capitalized or not), but words learned and not used again (e.g., because added accidentally) will be shown lower and lower in the list and eventually be removed from the dictionary automatically. There is no need to manually manage any of this yourself.

Arrow Keys: ALL of them! ▲▼◄ ► ↑ ↓ ← →
I really wonder: why doesn’t anyone of the keyboard app producers implement a full set of arrow keys? I can’t believe I’m the only person in the world who misses this.
Please PadKeys, be the first app to implement arrow keys!
They even could be all four side by side. There’s space enough in the bottom row to do it.
Thanks a lot in the name of all users!
7 votesAs mentioned in the comments, we are unable to provide this functionality at the moment due to iOS limitations. We encourage interested parties to send feedback to Apple on this matter.

Change US (& AU/NZ) Keyboard Layout
Could you please relocate the "\" key on the English (US) Keyboard Layout (and also AU/NZ Layouts -- which also uses the US Keyboard Layout)?
The result will look closer to Apple's US Keyboard Layout.
9 votesThank you for the suggestion and detailed mockups. The backslash IS in a non-standard position, but we are hesitant to make a heavily-used key (backspace) smaller in order to standardize the location of a key many users will never touch.

Please make a free trial version
I just tend to be really harsh on apps (just too many bad ones out there) and I would like to try this app before spending the $4.99 and end up with something that I use for 30 seconds, leaving bad feedback and then deleting. Having a free version would really help.
1 voteWe fully sympathize with this.
Unfortunately Apple does not provide a good solution for this now. We would need to make either a dumbed-down free version or an in-app-purchase driven version. In either case, we’ve still got the problem that whatever doesn’t come for free must still be tried out only after payment.
In addition, distaste for the whole free download (and your personal information is the product) plus in-app-purchase philosophy aside, dividing features and/or apps like this would consume our resources that we’d rather put towards improving the keyboard.
Please send feedback to Apple requesting that they add a time-limited trial feature.

Dictation microphone
Insert a dictation icon that would revert to the Apple keyboard microphone. It would work similar to what happens with passwords.
2 votesWe are closing this, Apple has added this support for iPhone X family devices in iOS 12, and, given their demonstrated attitudes, that is the most we will get.

Microphone support
I dictate a lot of my email and messages. I would not have purchased this app had I known there was no microphone support. What an oversight! I bet your sells would increase and your reqests for refunds would increase significantly by adding microphone support. Ron Jones
2 votesWe agree with you, and really wish Apple would provide an API for third-party keyboards to trigger dictation functionality. However, they do not, even though they easily could do it without providing access the microphone itself which could be a security concern. Please see:

Please let Apple know this is functionality you’d like to see.

Full stop on French keyboard
I've just bought the app and as I often use a French keyboard, the inclusion of the commonly accented characters as discrete keys is a great facility. However, it seems that to enter a full stop you need to use Shift. Double tapping doesn't seem to work. As full stops are used regularly this seems a bit odd.
1 voteAs we’ve said elsewhere, it is not our intention to innovate the keyboard layout. We take the PadKeys layouts straight from Apple’s Macbook keyboards, which you can see on this page (including French):
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201794
I can’t really speak to WHY the period requires a shift in the French layout, but we assume people are used to it.
However, please let us know if the Apple page is wrong / outdated, or if there is some other reason we should not be using the published Macbook layout in this case.

Long press for secondary keys
The black keys i.e. number row and symbols could have a long press entering the alternate symbol instead of needing to press shift
5 votesThis would conflict with the popup key menus some of these show. We now have swipe access the shifted versions similarly to the system keyboard in iOS 11.

Show spelling errors only, no auto-correct or suggestions
I'm using KeyPad since quite a while and like it a lot. The only thing I don't like is the way it handles corrections. I don't like auto-correct, and I don't like this Suggestion-beam, taking up space on top of my keyboard. I would like to just have the standard red wavy line under spelling errors Without this suggestion beam) - please! Thanks, Bernd
1 voteUnfortunately Apple / iOS provides us no access to the actual text area you are typing into so we cannot draw red underlines or anything else. If you’d just like to turn off the PadKeys Suggestions bar regardless, go into PadKeys settings and switch autocorrect to corrections-only or off.

Please add Russian language
I get Padkeys app today and I thought that it support all languages from Ipad Settings, but Padkeys do not support Russian language. Please add Russian.
Прошу добавить русский язык!2 votesI’m sorry to give a negative answer on this, but we don’t currently have plans to support Russian or any other non-Latin-script language. In addition we lack a source of autocorrect data for Russian.
If our plans change in the future we will post here. The languages PadKeys supports are listed in our App Store description.

Use shift + arrow keys to select (for copy / paste actions)
Use shift + arrow keys to select (for copy / paste actions)
1 voteI’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but although we would love to do this, Apple/iOS does not provide third-party keyboards any way to tell the app what text to select.
As we always say with this sort of issue, please let Apple know directly that you’d like to see this functionality. We’ve already submitted an enhancement request, but the more people they hear from the more likely they’ll consider it something worth doing. Thanks!

Supporting Keyboard Types
iOS supports several keyboard types (default, email, url, phone)*. Webviews can set the type of the keyboard.
This support-page sets the type "email" for the field for the emails. The Apple keyboard respects this setting (see first picture). padkey doesn't respect this setting (see second picture).
3 votesThank you for your thoughts. There are two parts to “respecting” the setting shown in the screenshots: switching layout to put ‘@’ prominently on the first screen, and showing email addresses in the completion area. We will think about how we might do this second one.
As far as the first, the overall philosophy of PadKeys is to not be switching layouts continually to adapt to the situation, with the side effect that the user must adapt as well. :-} Instead, we make all keys accessible in standard places at all times so your fingers can use their memories from regular laptop and desktop keyboards, and you can spend less of your brain space on key layouts. :-)
Note, we aren’t here to force this down anyone’s throats. If you don’t use regular computer keyboards frequently or find you’d rather have adaptive phone-style keyboards on your iPad, there are other…

Underline misspelled words
Show up red spell checking waves below wrong word
1 voteUnfortunately, Apple’s programming interface does not allow us to do this. Third party keyboards have very limited ways they can interact with the rest of the system.

Function key support
Add Function keys
3 votesUnfortunately iOS doesn’t provide us with any way to implement these. We have requested it from Apple and if anything changes we’ll reopen this issue.

Button or Settings Option that Hides Number Row
For me, padkeys is all about saving screen space. Please add an option for hiding the number row, which is lovely to have when I need it, annoying when I don't. In this mode, pressing shift would activate a similar layout for numbers and punctuation as the ios default keyboard.
3 votesWe have “short mode” which frees up even more space than this would: https://youtu.be/F_Z1gVPSM4Q
While a hidden number row would provide an alternative way to save screen space, this plus the separate number/punctuation layout is so similar to what the system keyboard already provides that it would be better simply to use that.
-
Transparency option
Transparency setting would be useful since the screen wont move up when typing like the apple keyboard.
Also a shrink space bar for a Delete button option?
1 voteThis is due to an iOS bug with screen adjustment for third-party keyboards taller than default. Unfortunately keyboards are not allowed to use transparency so we cannot work around this as suggested. We DO offer a “short mode” though which will make PadKeys shorter than the system keyboard and avoid the problem. Just long-press the keyboard-away key while in landscape to switch to short mode.

Having these “extra” keys is the whole purpose of PadKeys. And we don’t want to overload with options. We do make the ‘A’ key slightly wider to make it easier to hit.

PadKeys’ own row can be turned off in its Settings. Unfortunately, neither PadKeys nor any other third-party keyboard is able to access or show Apple’s internal autocorrect/suggestions facilities. The bar itself is shown (unless you’ve turned it off), but you’ll get only the undo/redo buttons and whatever the app you are using adds.

Select text with SHIFT + Left/Right Cursor
This would be a fast and accurate way to select text without having to mess about tapping on the text you want.
2 votesWe’d love to do this, but unfortunately Apple provides no way for a third-party keyboard to influence the selection. Not even in iOS 10. We have sent in requests for them to provide this kind of functionality, but it seems not to even be on their radar screen.

Make PadKeys fully work with Chrome Remote Desktop
Hi,
Special keys such as arrows and tab do not work in Chrome Remote Desktop, it's a pity since those are pretty much very important when remote controlling a computer from the iPad.Thanks
1 voteHello,
This is something that would need to be done by the app developer. Please ask them to get in touch with us if they need more information how to fix it.
Thanks!
